Time Machine

When you shoot with film as sporadically as I do, getting an old roll finally developed is full of unexpected surprises. It's like a time machine into small memories your mind completely forgot about. 1. John at his favorite carne asada fries hole in the wall 2. Camille at Lady 3. The surreal day with Emma over a year ago in Atwater Village.

STRFKR

Last night I saw Starfucker for the 4th time. It never gets old...Their live show is like a Roman candle party explosion. This time they unleashed black balloons into the crowd, which I found aesthetically pleasing. Check it out.

Happy Friday

Silly schoolgirls are always getting seduced by glamorous older men.

Catherine

I love it when other people rant too. Don't ever plan a bachelorette party revolving around a demure high-tea.

Maurene

Found this gem. I have no idea what we were talking about. It coulda been Heidi and Spencer. It could have been a pair of yappy dogs, it could have been you and your mom, but uhhh...just SHUT UP.

Katee

I walked into the room and on the bed there was over a dozen wigs on Katee's bed...
Mullets, fros, bobs, even a beard.

Me: Katee why do you have SO MANY WIGS????
Katee: Because they make me sooo happy!!

I love KT Reason No. 48
Her love for silly disguises.

whew

The other day I accidentally dropped a mirror on the floor and had a minor freak out thinking I had broken it. Because I'm superstitious and even though the whole seven years of bad luck thing seems a little excessive, I'd still sulk about it and feel paranoid. Good thing it didn't break!  I can continue living a charmed life.

So badass

I was talking to Andrea recently about annoying words that keep being abused and used over and over again at work. Our list so far includes:

1. badass
2. killin' it
3. brutha
4. sick shit
5. fun stuff

"Hey brutha, how's it goin--are you killin' it? That looks badass, that's some sick shit, you're killin' it... Fun stuff!"

::fist bumps::

end scene.

Print will never be dead

I finished reading a 600+ page book on my iPad. (Skippy Dies, Paul Murray) I'm not sure if the experience was great or not, I'm still undecided. On one hand I'd obviously much rather read a tangible book and flip real pages, nothing will ever replace that. But on the other hand I do like that I have one less finished book rattling underneath my bed. I also like that I'm not contributing to the existing volume of stuff I already own.

I love that I can digitally purchase pretty much any book at any given moment with the lazy click of a button. I mean now I can be super frivolous about my reading, reading both high and lowbrow, without judgement.

BUT...I really hated that I couldn't flip to the end really quick to skim quickly and see who dies, and what actually ends up happening. (yes, Skippy dies but who else?!) Yeah, I do that. I'm not adverse to spoilers. Anyway someone said well couldn't I do that on my iPad? Yeah sure, but it doesn't compare to how fast you can do it, the old fashioned way. No damn user interface to navigate. When I'm not at work I don't even want to deal with that shit.

I also didn't like that I had no concept of how far along I was in the novel. I've seen Skippy Dies in bookstores several times before, so I know how fat it is. So it really bothered me to feel like I was reading endlessly on a treadmill. In a normal book I rarely pay attention to the page numbers but I was constantly doing math, dividing, figuring out percentages, to mentally visualize how many centimeters of the book I had read. It was really weird. I don't like it.

But I'm going to continue to read new novels this way, and if I really fall in love with a book I'll purchase the real book and add it to my shelf.

I hate everyone.

iMadeface today...a fun little app to create your likeness. (can't help but think the style was largely inspired / totally ripped off of Julian House) Anyway--why stop at a still likeness when you can create your all sorts of expressions. Such as the one I wear when I ride my huffy bike around work.

The only act of collecting I partake in aside from shoes. They say males have an inherent desire to collect, females do not. I'd have to agree with this. How many girls do you know say stuff like "mint condition"?

*unrelated but important: today I ate an entire box of Dots.

It's 2013 !!!

It's another new year, a fresh new age, yet another version of me.
2013 resolution is to learn something wholly new.

I won't tell you what yet but this year will be about new things and uncharted territories. I thought for a brief second to tack on "consume less sugar" but--no.
